You can smell the baked goods from a block away. I bought macarons, an apple souffle, some cream puffs, and a breton butter cake that was heavy & dripping with sticky butter. Everything was so delicious that I almost just passed out. Le Brun is a "master artisan" who's won several culinary awards for his pastries, and his store was swamped with tourists (and I was one of them).

The sign outside says that Olivier Le Brun has been recognized by the regional pastry guild for having the best kouign amann in Brittany. I love kouign amann, so I hopped inside and ordered an individual one, for two euros. There's no other way to put this: it was awful! It was really hard and difficult to chew. It was far too sweet; so sugary and caramel-y that I could hardly taste the butter. What they sold me was pretty much the opposite of the best kouign amann in Brittany. So disappointing.
